How to Source Custom Fields for Project Template

When creating a PDF Template, I can see the option to select the "Project" as the record type, however, when I select the tag selector, it doesn't show the fields for the project module. Are you able to pull fields from the project module into the PDF template and if so, how can you see the field names from the back end? Does this include custom fields?
