Purpose of inventory standard cost field on standard cost version
On a standard cost version record, what is the 'inventory standard cost' field defining?
Since this is standard cost, shouldn't the items always be at the item defined cost?
For example, if I had an inventory item, 'cardboard box', with a costing method of standard cost on the item record. .
If I were to use a standard cost version, for this item, and wanted to use the 'inventory standard cost' of 'Average cost' wouldn't it be the same as me using a costing method of 'average cost' on the cardboard box item record itself? (meaning there is no need to create a standard cost version)
