How to get Sales Order line Item entry to act like Global Search?

We would like to have “Global Search” ability for Sales Order Item fields. Currently, only Item names are index/displayed.

In the Netsuite GUI global search bar, we’re able to find an item based on a secondary field (ie: Historical Part # in our case). If we search for the Historical field name, the associated Item with that Historical file shows up.

However, if we attempt to enter that Historical code on a Sales Order Line item, the associated Item is not found. How can we get the Sales Order Item name field to find the “current” Item based on a Historical name search?
