New to NetSuite | Advanced Taxes: Canada Tax Determination Logic
Having examined the US Tax Lookup Hierarchy with Advanced Taxes enabled in earlier articles, we will now focus on understanding Canada’s tax determination logic within Legacy Tax.
Canada imposes sales tax at both the federal and provincial levels. At the federal level, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is applied at a rate of 5% on the sales price across the entire country. In addition to GST, each province may levy its own Provincial Sales Tax (PST), with rates and rules that vary by province. Depending on the province, PST can be calculated based on the selling price alone or on the selling price plus GST.
