How mature is Multi-Org

We're a company with four subsidiaries.  We currently run on four different NetSuite instances.  We were excited when we heard last year that v2007 would support multi-org/multi-entity.

Is it now mature?  Do you know how many companies are on multi-org that's public?

How was the implementation?  Did you use NetSuite's implementation services or third-party service?

We are seriousely considering it but want to see it proven first.
