Report Creation on Custom Records

I have a number of custom records in use, some which are linked to Customer and Transaction records and others that are independant and being used as independant reference forms.

I want to be able to create new reports directly on these custom records without going through the new Report and metric as my custom records are not an available metric. Am I missing something?
