Reducing Transaction storage impact

I want to start this thread to hopefully get people discussing the storage impact of various elements of transactions, especially transactions with kits or assemblies.  I've recently become VERY concerned over the space used up by common records in NetSuite.  For example, I had always though that System Notes did not count towards storage allocations but recently learned this may not be true.

Storing descriptions for invisible member items
One question that I would really like to have answered is whether or not member item description fields are stored when the Print Item option is unchecked.  For example, if I sell a Kit with 10 member and each member has a sales description with 800 characters... does that mean that my transaction has 10 lines (I know there are actually more) each with 800 characters of descriptive text that will never be seen?
