Why are there duplicate users in my manage users list?

Why do I have a single customer record for John Doe with access to a customer center, but when I look at my manage users (administrator) screen he shows up twice as two customer records?  I'm not sure it's referencing two different customer records, because my customers list only has one for him.  So why it's displaying two I have no clue. 

And yes the role is identical, and yes I realize different roles for the same user will generate additional entries in my manage users screen.
