Best practice - Printing Item Barcode Labels
I've FINALLY resolved the long-outstanding issue of not being able to print ALL item barcodes, regardless of what format it is in.
- Populate your UPC with a real barcode if available
- Create a scheduled workflow to address any empty UPCs by using the internal id.
- Synchronise/copy that result to a new custom field that will only be used for printing labels.
- Add this custom element to the item label layout.
This will print perfectly, assuming you don't make the barcode object too skinny. You want to leave as much room as possible, so the barcode lines don't get squished together and the scanner doesn't end up reading it.
