Weird Numbers after Customer Names

Hi,

Is there a reason or is there any kind of meaning to those numbers after a customers name?

For example :

Joe Bloggs 3
Harry Potter 78420
Austin Powers 2
Frodo Baggins 6

We have tons and tons of customers who have this. Can't say how many as I've never counted them.

The long digits look like a Zip code but what about the other numbers? Also I've checked and I just thought it might be duplicates but they are not.

Is there a way to clean this up and also prevent it from happening?
