Deposit not clearing

For an NSF check, Netsuite help advises several steps including doing an offsetting deposit to clear out the journal entry that adjusts the bank balance. As with all deposits I selected the items to deposit and then saved. The journal entry transaction has not cleared out of the deposit, so anytime I go in to make a new deposit it still shows up like it has not been 'deposited'. When I try to redeposit it by selecting the journal entry and redoing the offsetting cash bank transaction a notice comes up which states, "link to that record already exists" and
