Unable to turn on Multi-Location inventory

Multi-Location inventory is available in our account. When I check it under "enable features", a popup warns I will not be able to turn it off when inventory is distributed; I click OK, and the box unchecks. I am able to save the record, but not enable multi-location inventory. Is there something else I have to turn off before enabling this, or is it a bug?
