Why am I receiving “the file format and extension of ‘report (002).xls’..." when exporting Report?

Excel spreadsheet, created via scheduler, when launched displays the message which begins as follows: “the file format and extension of ‘report (002).xls’ don’t match. The file could be corrupted ......”. As the spreadsheet can still be used it is not a show stopper. However, is this a common occurrence? Will it be sorted at some stage? And if it is, when will it be fixed? Thank you.
