Using the Last Sales Activity field on a customer based saved search

Since NetSuite implemented the 1.06 LSA bundle, I have been unable to pull the max date from the LSA records without showing rows for every activity in the customer based search.  I don't want to use grouping in the search since we require inline editing and cannot figure out how to create a custom date entity field showing the max value from the LSA records.  I'm sure there is something simple that I am missing but am at a loss.  Any ideas?
