Historical Sales Metrics

We are currently working in the Beta, but I had questions for those who have been live for a couple months and who use the Historical Sales Metrics feature. Historical Sales Metrics do not start capturing data until the feature is enabled, so as of right now, we only have captured data from mid-May.
1. When is data "captured"? At the end of the month, and it's just a snapshot of end of month at 11:59 pm? We'd like to make sure the captured info is verifiable, but we'd need to know when we could pull the data ourselves to compare to.
