how to get actualShipDate field in SalesOrder record

I am using the PHPtoolkit call get(nsRecordRef $recordRef)  to get a record of type SalesOrder. 

the sales order I am retrieving has been shipped and shows the actual shipping date under the shipping tab.

Looking at the Netsuite schema browser documentation, there is a field named :

actualShipDate xsd:dateTime F   Actual    Note this field is read-only.

But the record that comes back from my get() call does not have this value set.  How do I get the actualShipDate from the SalesOrder record ?
