C# calling a Saved Search, only getting an internal ID instead of values

Even though the saved search shows me all the data I want when run via the UI, what is returned by the web services is littered with internalIds instead of the actual values.
Nodes like <platformCommon:type> only have a child node that only includes an internalId attribute and no <platformCore:searchValue> nodes.

What is the preferred method to get the actual data for these fields instead of just the internalIds?
