Matrix/non-Matrix fields in Shopping Cart

We are just getting our Web store set up and have encountered these frustrating issues...

1) Currently, the Item column of our shopping cart pulls from the Store Name field for any non-matrix items (which is good), but pulls the Item Name/Number field for matrix items (which is not good). This is a problem because, due to the fact that we are using Netsuite's bar coding functionality the Item Name/Number field must contain UPC codes, as we understand it. Depending on a mix of items ordered by a customer, the Item column of the shopping cart, therefore, displays some item store names and some UPC codes.
