Free Gift/Discount

Hi,

I want to do one of the following:

a) Customer buys an item and receives 1 pomotional code/Gift Certificate for free with it entitling 5% discount off the next order

b) Give another line item for free when a certain item is bought.

I know I could create a new item which is a pack but would like it to be a bit more dynamic, i.e. Today you can receive free products or buy certain products today and receive a gift voucher for your next order.

Can anyone tell me how I can go about doing this please?
