Partner Code & Registration also

Hi

I have seen/been goven conflicting advice on using partner codes.

I have been told to pass a partner code to an online customer registration form & your site from a hyperlink using either:

www.yourURL.com?partner=xxx

or

www.yourURL.com&partner=xxx

I have also been told that you don't need to have the partner code field on the form in order for a newly registered Lead/Customer to pick up the partner code (so long as it has been passed to the site)

Can anyone clarify this for me.

I am experiencing some bugs at the moment with partner codes that is preventing me from testing these scenarios.
