Restrict Website Tab to Customer Group from Saved Search - Not Possible?!

I wanted to create a tab on our website to be accessed only by our wholesale customers, so I thought I would restrict the audience to a group I made based off a saved search. The only problem is when you go to create the new tab, the only groups that appear under "audience" are those created by manually selecting customers. Not one dynamic saved-search group is listed! I'm guessing the system only thinks we would want to use this feature for marketing campaigns.

I do not understand why this feature is not available. Has anyone successfully worked around this? What did you do?
