Custom Item Search with Sort

I am trying to create a custom search to display on our site that will display a list of items from criteria given by the customer.  Example:  Two dropdown boxes are populated with numbers by the user and this will display all items between the two values given.

I would also like to have our customers be able to sort the item lists on the website.  I can't figure out how to do this.

Any direction on either problem?
