customising the Chekout pages?

Hello

We have the advanced sitebuilder but have found that the shopping basket and checkout pages are not customisable at all!

I have tried to do some changes through putting Javascript behind new customer registration page to hid partner code checkbox for example. But as for other text such as "New Customer Registration" which comes on top of the page or "If you have a partner or affiliate code, enter it here", I haven't found a way to change these?

Has anybody any experience trying to customise these pages?
