Ebay Import Error

We've just starting using the Ebay feature and have come across a common problem on our first ebay sales:

1)NL does not want to imported some of our Ebay sales.  Our first ebay sales did not import so I ran a manual import and got an error message that the import failed.  Then about 2 hours later it appeared as a sale order waiting approvale.

On the second ebay sale, I am having the same problem - NL not importing the sale automatically and manual import gives "failed" status.

2) The perferences setup under Setup > Ebay > Set Up Ebay are not sticking, meaning the defualt values do not auto-populate in item records - so what's the use of using default values.
