Consolidate Multiple Customer Records

Hello,

A lot of our customers had multiple records in our system and it shows like this:

John Smith
John Smith 2
John Smith 3

Each with some order records, but essentially, it's the same customer.  How can I consolidate the customer records into "John Smith" with one email address?
