Exsiting customers using the ecomm store

I have a ton of existing customers in the system. I am considering moving my ecommerce operations off my home grown platform and into netsuite to eliminate some reconciliation tasks.

If I do this will the netsuite store recognize the existing customers already in the system when thier email address is entered, or will the customers have to re-register as a ecomm customer? Of course that would create dupe records so I am hoping that is not the case.

Has anyone else gone through a similar process?
