Pro-rate and building an item

Is there any customization option available to prorate an item? We are selling monthly monitoring and support subscriptions, and would like to prorate the pricing based on the day of the month. 

What about building an item, similar to building a computer online from a store like Dell.  I want this, with these options.  Has anyone done anything like this, or is this possible in NetSuite?
