salesprice and salespriceHTML

The salesPriceHTML tag works properly, but is salesprice tag still working without html ?
We are not being able to use this tag to show simple prices on matrix items.
e.g

Price: $20.00 instead of Price: $20.00 - 30.00 on matrix items.

Is anyone experiencing the same problem?
