Companies with a first name and last name

edited Dec 18, 2009 8:14PM in Web Site / E-Commerce 2 comments

We're stuck.  We create all customers as companies.

Online this presents a problem because we need to collect first name and last name, and Netsuite requires us to ask for Name, Company name (we've renamed that one "Legal Name (for tax receipts).  That's four separate fields.  Not a good user experience.

I can deal with first name and last name as well as legal name, because they are all meaningful, but having an extra name field in there just doesn't make sense.

I can try hiding the name field and giving it a default value, but the name field has an id of 'name' and that'll break all sorts of things on the site (i'm guessing) if I use a script site wide.

Howdy, Stranger!
