First let me start by giving background behind my dilema
I am currently finishing up a redesign of our website. We sell appliances so it's a requirement for us to be able to group multiple "like" products together... for example a dishwasher has three different variations (white, black, and stainless steel). These child items get grouped into a parent item and the parent item gets categorized. The parent item should be the only way for a user to get to the child item. Therefore I need to be able to leave the child item uncategorized but still have it accessible via our website. However I do not want the item
