Max number of getAttribute tags?

I'm working on a custom template which requires a lot of getAttribute() tags; grabbing item prices, names, images, etc.  I've found that if I have too many, the page in the browser blows up with a site maintenance error.  I was told by Netsuite before that this message occurs when there's an error in the template --- bad code.  However I've gone through this many times and see no issues; if I remove some tags, it works.  If I add them back in, it doesn't.  Therefore I'm wondering if there is a max number of getAttribute() tags allowed in a
