Multiselect Fields Not Populating Data in Child Matrix Items

Hello,

I have encountered an issue with multiselect fields in matrix items where changes made to the parent multiselect field do not populate down to the child items.  In order to avoid having to alter the multiselect field on each individual child item, I am hoping one of you might be able to help me figure out how I can get multiselect fields on a parent item to populate down through to all child items. 

I'm not sure this is the correct section of the forum for this question, so if you have a suggestion for a more appropriate place to post this question, please let me know.
