Number of related items displayed?

I have set the number of related items to be displayed in the layout I am using to 10, but only 3 are showing. I have checked the category and that is set to default and even if I set the layout at the category level it does not seem to show more than three.

I am a little bit confused because I have changed the layout to a standard layout and it is not changing the appearance.

Any clues at where I should look for this?
