Create custom page

I just want to create a plain page, with my own html in it, on my site.
Would prefer to not have it be a category or item... just a plain page that I can link to from a graphic on the home page.

Can't for the life of me find out how to do this in any tutorial, help screen, etc.

Thanks for any suggestions.
