Display Log out URL.. only Sometimes

in Web Site / E-Commerce

I was looking through the documentation and see that for a log out url on my website, I would use:

<NLLOGOUTURL>

or

<%=getLogoutURL()%>
.
Is there a preference between the two? Then if I wanted to display this only when the user is logged in, how do I display this link conditionally (and what condition what I be looking for?)
