Redirect user in webstore for a no longer valid URL?

This may be an obvious question but since I cannot find anything when looking myself, I'll ask.

I have two web sites with their own domains setup in NetSuite, website1 (setup as primary), and website2. Just noticed that an old URL pointing to a site category under website2 is no longer valid but when trying to access this URL, the user is not redirected to the home page of website2, but instead website1. Can only assume NetSuite is redirecting to the primary site automatically, but the URL contains the website2 domain in it, so why wouldn't it redirect to that domain's home page?
