Bulk/Batch Edit Matrix Options for a Parent Item?

Let me run my scenario by everyone and see if anybody can provide me with a viable solution.

One of the things we consistently run into is a situation where we need to be able to sell an item with a particular matrix option available in our store, but not have that particular matrix option for that item display on the website. While this is fine for items that don't have a lot of matrix options, we often run into situations where one single item can have 500+ matrix options underneath it because of all the different combinations and going through one-by-one just isn't feasible.
