Format Phone Number to xxxxxxxxxx

We are using reference checkout 2.02
Is there a way to automatically format the customers phone number into the following format upon entry into the phone number field when they sign up?
XXXXXXXXXX
Basically no spaces or any other characters so that our five9 application will correctly pull records when a client calls in?
