Deleting Gift Certificate?

Am I blind or is there no way to delete this record?  Like if you created a bunch in production for testing purposes and want to delete them.  I know you can mark them as expired and write off the remaining value, but does the actual Gift Certificate object remain in the system forever?

Really hope I'm missing something obvious here...
