How to make phone not required on address in myaccount

in Web Site / E-Commerce

By default the phone number is required on the address. How do I make it unrequired? I tried to remove the error code from OrderWizard.Module.Address.Billing.js but instead of the clean error it is returning an unhandled error. I tried to remove all the validations for phone both on client and server side files but it is not working. This seems to generate a real NetSuite error.

Many of our customers don't have address prepopulated with phone numbers.
