gulp deploy --m sandbox not working

We just had a refresh of our sandbox and now I am unable to deploy to it. I type in 'gulp deploy --m sandbox' and it goes through without any errors. However, when I look at the website, none of my changes are visible even though they were visible on my local server. None of the files have been updated in the file cabinet. Is there something I had to do to have gulp upload to the correct place or is there something else I'm missing? I haven't updated my source files since the refresh. Do I need to download
