Site Management Tool Error: This path already belongs to another page

I am using the Site Management Tools (CMS Application) to create landing pages. However we cannot create a page named 'News'. When we attempt to create this page we get an error: 'This path already belongs to another page.'

Now we did create a News page earlier, then deleted it but now we want to recreate it. Our landing pages list shows the news was deleted (its not there - please see the above image). And we have no pending changes (all changes are published). Any idea how we can create this news page?
