Open items on account registers

edited Oct 29, 2015 3:04PM in Accounting / ERP 4 comments

HI

On all account registers at the bottom of the page is an "open" tick box, however can anyone tell me how to close transactions.

For example I may have a balance sheet account with lots of transactions in it that mostly net off, such as a holding account or control account for something. I want to be able to reconcile the account and therefore close entries that net off against each other. I don't mean bank recs etc but the ability to reconcile other balance sheet accounts and effectively close transactions so they don't appear as open.

An example might be staff loans, where they are many small loans made and repaid on a regular basis. Say there was an original loan of $100 which was repaid in 2 instalments $20 and $80. I would like to mark the 3 transactions as closed so that when I view the register in future and tick "open" those items do not show and I can see the transactions that are current and still count towards the balance.

Howdy, Stranger!
