Prevent user from updating the Tax column on Sales Forms

We need to prevent users from editing the column field 'Tax Code' on Sales Order line items.
From SuiteAnswers (id: 20749), it is suggested to set the field to 'Inline Text' at the form level. 
This is not available for our given tax setup which is from the Canadian edition without Advanced Taxes enabled.
Also, I tried deleting the field name from the form but in the UI the field 'Tax Code' appears anyways.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
