Auto Generating an Invoice from a Sales Order

I'm looking for a clever way to be able to figure out which invoices in a particular month need to be invoiced.  For example, now it's April, and I would like to find out which of the sales orders need to be converted to an invoice and sent to a client.  Thoughts?
