I'm working on a custom Inventory Item Form. The question I have is there anyway to set a drop down in scripting? What do I need to do to set the value of a dropdown?

I've tried things like

nlapiSetFieldValue('preferredlocation', 'Warehouse');
nlapiSetFieldValue('preferredlocation', 5);
nlapiSetFieldValue('preferredlocation', '5');

Does anyone know what do to?
