Ajax style sublist refresh in suitelet form

I've seen a few posts on this already. Is there any way to refresh sublists on suitelet forms using standard NS methods? Not sure if nlapiRefreshLineItems is supported for custom UI sublists? I also see an addRefreshButton method to the sublist UI object with completely useless documentation.
