301 Redirects

Hello all,

I have some items that have been discontinued.  I need to redirect the old URL to new URL of the replacement item.  The research that I have done says that 301 redirects is most Seach Engine friendlies way to do it with messing up the search engine rankings.  I have created the .htacess file to do the redirect but it does not work.  Has anyone done a 301 redirect in Netsuite.
