Google Webmaster Tools Verify trouble

I cannot get this to work.

I see that others have had trouble with Google Webmaster tools verifying their website in the past.

I have created the required .html file and posted it to the Website Hosting Files -> Live Hosting Files directory.

I have copied the meta tag data and posted it in numerous places so that it appears in the <head> of the home page.

Nothing works. I keep getting the following error:
"We were unable to verify your file due to a server timeout."

Does anyone know if this is an ongoing problem with NS?  We really need to get this SEO stuff going.
