Web Site "Advanced Search" Woes

Our site is still in development, but there is one issue I've been stalling on and I really need to deal with it now.

We want to include an advanced search page on our site. I've followed all the instructions and have created a semi-effective page, but it is U-G-L-Y!!! I cannot find anything in support about how to improve the appearance of this page. There must be a way to adjust the layout, right?

I'd also like to put my form off to one side and have the results appear in the main body. As it is now, because of the number of search options we include, the form always stays above the fold, and the results appear below. To the unsuspecting customer, it looks like nothing has happened.
